To better serve our customers, beginning January 2026, TableCheck is adding infrastructure hosted in physical data centers provided by Equinix in Tokyo, Japan to complement our existing Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) cloud infrastructure.
You do not need to take any action as a result of this change.
Even after this change, TableCheck will continue to use AWS as our primary hosting provider. We are adding Equinix data centers to support compute intensive workloads such as batch job processing and analytics, such as those used by TableCheck Insight.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Will my service or data be affected? Do I need to take any action?
A:No. All TableCheck services will continue to operate normally. This change is infrastructure-level only—there is no change or impact to URLs, integrations, or user interfaces. You do not need to take any action as a result of this change.
Q. Will there be downtime or maintenance window?
A:No. No downtime is expected.
Q. Why is TableCheck adding Equinix?
A:Using a physical data center will allow TableCheck to access greater computing performance and provide new and innovative services. In particular, TableCheck will use Equinix to process compute-heavy workloads such as our industry-leading TableCheck Insight data analytics tool. For the foreseeable future, TableCheck will use Equinix for only batch processing workloads. We do not plan to use Equinix to handle critical functions such as your TableCheck booking form, payments, and TableCheck Manager.
Q. Why did TableCheck choose Equinix?
A:Equinix (Nasdaq: EQIX) is the world's leading data center infrastructure company, operating 270 data centers across 33 countries. In Tokyo alone, Equinix operates 15 data centers. We chose Equinix for its excellent service, compliance, and reliability.
Q. Will TableCheck stop using AWS?
A:No. TableCheck will continue to use AWS to power the majority of our services, including our databases, booking and TableCheck Manager web servers.
Q. What is the difference between AWS and Equinix?
A:AWS is a cloud platform from which TableCheck rents computing power on demand. It enables rapid, flexible scaling whenever our web traffic increases.
Equinix, on the other hand, provides secure physical data centers where TableCheck installs and operates our own high-performance servers.
TableCheck will operate both Equinix and AWS as part of a hybrid cloud strategy—using Equinix servers to handle steady base loads and AWS cloud servers for scaling during peak activity.
Q. Is there a change to where my data is primarily stored?
A:Your data will continue to be primarily stored at-rest within the AWS Tokyo Region, including the Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”) data of your guests.
TableCheck may use the Equinix data center to process and/or temporarily cache your data, but not for long-term storage.
Q. Is Equinix secure?
A:Yes. Equinix has industry-leading security controls, and is certified under ISO 27001, SOC1/2, and many other internationally-recognized compliance standards. For more information, please see: https://www.equinix.com/data-centers/design/standards-compliance
Q. What will happen if an Equinix datacenter has an outage?
A:TableCheck will run services in two different Equinix data centers in a dual-redundant configuration. In a worst-case scenario, all services running on Equinix are also able to instantaneously fallback to run on AWS. Therefore, there should be minimal or zero disruption even in the event of a total outage of Equinix.
Q. Does this change compliance or data-processing agreements?
A:No. This does not change any of TableCheck's existing compliance commitments or DPAs. Both the AWS and Equinix infrastructure remain under TableCheck’s full operational and legal control, following the same security, privacy, and retention policies to which we have already committed.
Please reach out to global-support@tablecheck.jp if you wish to sign an addendum to an existing agreement in order to explicitly state TableCheck’s usage of the Equinix data center.
Q. When will the Equinix deployment go live?
A:The Equinix Tokyo data center is scheduled to go live beginning January, 2026 and will be progressively rolled out.
For reference, TableCheck has been using the Equinix Tokyo data center for internal usage unrelated to customer data since June, 2025.
Q. Does this change apply to customers located in Mainland China?
A:This change does not affect TableCheck customers located in Mainland China. This change does apply to customers located in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
Q. Who can I contact for more information?
A:Please reach out to your TableCheck Account Manager or contact global-support@tablecheck.com.
